THE LIVING ROOM
"What exactly is The Living Room" ? Here's a little back story....
Growing up I was always fortunate enough to have a wonderful family that loves sit around and CHAT. Whether it was around the kitchen table, on a long rainy dog walk or simply in the living room sitting around a fireplace, we were always having conversations and challenging each others opinions. Yes, there would be the occasional disagreement, but it always felt like a safe space to air whatever was on our minds. Additionally, as a child, I was always involved in "extra curricular activities". Whether it was was music/sports practice after school, roller blading/scooting in the neighbourhood park, or making a small fortune as a 13 year old by selling hand made jewellery in school, I always made time for "activities" (cue "Step Brothers" bunk beds scene).
Fast forward a couple of years to the average working adult and I get this feeling that so many of us are so consumed by our professional lives that we rarely take a step back to just switch off and enjoy "hobbies". With that being said, the concept of the Living Room is to get people together to a comfortable space where once a month, we sit around to do or discuss. Activities ranging from book reviews, mood boards, musical performances, art/theatre reviews, wine tasting, cooking courses, how to crafts session, meditation, motivational speakers etc. Having lived abroad for 10 years, I always wanted to be a part of a group like this; so here we are a decade later, and we're finally doing it!
